State and Local Sales Tax for Precious Metals

When you purchase coins or bullion from First Fidelity Reserve you may be required to pay state and local sales tax on your purchase.  The sales tax charged will be determined by the address where we ship the order.  If the coins or bullion are being shipped somewhere other than your home address, the sales tax charged will be based upon the state and local sales tax law of the shipment destination.

The Reason Tax Collection Has Changed

In June 2018, the United States Supreme Court announced a decision in South Dakota v. Wayfair overturning previous precedent regarding collection of sales taxes by out of state sellers.  Unfortunately, the sales tax laws and rates are not uniform throughout the United States.  Consequently, retailers must adapt to the sales tax laws in each state.  If you have specific questions regarding sales tax requirements in your state we recommend you contact your tax advisor.

What We Are Doing to Comply

Our company retained the services of a consulting company to assist in navigating the state laws.  We have integrated their sales tax platform into our system.

When you make a purchase online or over the phone our system will calculate the sales tax based upon your shipping address.  The shopping cart in our online store will provide the estimated sales tax amount prior to checkout.  On the phone, your representative will be able to provide you with the estimated sales tax being charged for your purchase.

We are presently collecting and remitting sales tax in some form in all states except:

Delaware

Montana

New Hampshire

Oregon
