2026 1 oz American Silver Eagle BU (BU)

American Silver Eagles

The American Silver Eagle has stood out as a favored and trusted silver bullion coin globally since its introduction in 1986 and is struck annually by the U.S. Mint using one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. The coin’s diameter is 40.6 centimeters. This coin is the official silver bullion coin of the United States and is recognized globally for its quality, making it a preferred choice among both investors and collectors, alike. The obverse of the American Silver Eagle features the “Walking Liberty" design by Adolph A Weinman, showing Lady Liberty walking towards the sunrise representing freedom and hope. Beginning with its launch in 1986, now known as the Type 1, the reverse of the American Silver Eagle displayed John Mercanti’s Heraldic Eagle design until it was changed in 2021. It featured an American Bald Eagle carrying a shield, an olive branch and arrows, symbolizing strength, peace and preparedness. This design became widely recognized in the world of bullion coins.

In 2021, the U.S. Mint introduced a new reverse design, transitioning to Emily Damstra’s Eagle Landing depiction, creating the Type 2 American Silver Eagle. The updated design presents a naturalistic portrayal of an eagle in flight, gripping an oak branch in its talons as it descends. This new look celebrates the bald eagle in a more dynamic and lifelike representation, emphasizing the bird’s grace and majesty. Both types of the American Silver Eagle have a reeded edge for security and anticounterfeiting purposes.

The American Silver Eagle offers a blend of silver content and official currency value and legal tender status backed by the U.S. government, giving investors an asset that can be effortlessly purchased or exchanged worldwide. It is available in bullion, proof and uncirculated versions with stunning designs carefully crafted with precision to attract collectors who value the artistry of each coin. Special editions with privy marks and unique finishes like proof and reverse proofs, have boosted its desirability for fans and collectors of this renowned coin.

Why American Silver Eagles are a Top Choice:

  • Government-Guaranteed Quality: Each American Silver Eagle’s weight, content and purity of .999 fine silver is guaranteed by the U.S. government, offering security and peace of mind for investors and collectors.
  • Global Liquidity: Due to its widespread recognition, the American Silver Eagle is highly liquid and easy to trade in virtually any market.

Enduring Design Appeal: The “Walking Liberty” design remains a beloved symbol of freedom and is an enduring piece of American artistry.
